Taranaki has answered the call for an urgently needed intensive care baby incubator, with $56,000 raised in three weeks.
The incubator had been ordered and is estimated to arrive from Europe in February.
The Neo Natal Unit at Taranaki Base Hospital urgently needs the intensive care Babyleo incubator – the gold standard of care for acutely sick newborn babies – with the unit’s only incubator soon due for “retirement”.

“People have dug very deep at this special time of the year to help our tiniest patients have the best start to their early lives,” Taranaki Health Foundation general manager Bry Kopu-Scott said.
‘’We know this year has been very challenging for businesses and families around the maunga, so please accept our sincerest thanks for taking time to support this cause.’’
In many cases, those who donated had received care in the past from the neonatal unit staff.
